Feature
Capture and work with screenshots on Mac
Capture a region or window, mark up the image, take a scrolling screenshot, or pin it as a reference. Extract text, translate it, and read QR codes from the same workflow.
From a screen selection to a useful result
Frset brings capture, annotation, scrolling screenshots, and image text tools into one screenshot workflow. Capture an app window for a bug report, mark up a design, keep a reference beside your work, or extract a passage from an image.
Start Screenshot from the menu bar or with a configured shortcut. Choose the area you need, then use the screenshot toolbar to annotate, copy, save, pin, extract text, translate, or recognize a QR code.
Capture a region or a window
Drag to select part of the screen, or select a detected window without drawing its boundaries by hand. You can move and resize a selection before deciding what to do with it. The magnifier and size indicator help you check the edges and dimensions.
A focused selection keeps the result useful: capture just an error dialog, a section of a document, or the part of an interface you want to discuss. Rounded corners can give a selected screenshot a softer edge when you want that presentation.
Mark up the image before sharing it
Use rectangles, ellipses, arrows, freehand drawing, and text to explain what matters in a screenshot. Adjust colors, thickness, and the available fill or highlight options to make an annotation easier to read.
Mosaic tools let you cover an area with pixelation or blur. Undo and redo help you revise a mark without starting the capture again. You can also annotate an image from your clipboard history or a screenshot you have pinned on screen.
For a bug report, an arrow can identify the affected control and a text label can explain the expected behavior. For design feedback, use a shape or highlight to keep attention on the area you are discussing.
Capture content beyond one screen
Choose Long Screenshot for a selected scrolling area. Scroll the content while Frset combines overlapping views into one longer image. This is useful for a web page, document, conversation, or list that extends below the visible area.
You can inspect the accumulated image, open it for annotation, then copy, save, or pin the result. Scrolling capture depends on the target app and how its content moves; changing layouts, fixed overlays, or interrupted scrolling can affect stitching.
Keep a screenshot beside your work
Pin a screenshot to keep it on top of other windows as a reference. Move it to a useful position and adjust its zoom while you work in another app.
A pinned image can hold a checklist beside a form, a design beside its implementation, or a passage beside your notes. Its actions also let you annotate, extract text, translate, or save it without returning to the original screen selection.
Copy, save, and find your screenshots again
Copy sends the finished image to the system clipboard so you can paste it into another app. Save writes the image to a location you choose. The destination app determines how pasted images are handled.
Copied screenshots can become entries in Frset's Clipboard Manager while recording is enabled. There, you can preview them, add tags or aliases, copy them again, save them, or continue working with their image actions.
When Screenshot search is enabled, Frset recognizes text in eligible screenshots it creates. After recognition finishes, clipboard search can find those screenshots by words inside them. This option is disabled by default and does not automatically index every image copied from another app.
Extract text with OCR
Choose Extract Text to turn visible words in your selection into editable text. This helps with scanned pages, slides, image text, app messages, or a paused video frame where the words cannot be selected directly.
Recognition runs locally on your Mac using Apple's built-in text recognition. Frset assembles recognized lines into readable paragraphs, joining wrapped prose and keeping detected paragraph and list breaks.
Review and edit the result, then select and copy the part you need. You can also choose Extract Text on an image already saved in your clipboard history.
Translate text or read a QR code
Choose Translate from the screenshot toolbar to recognize the selected text and read it in another language. You can also continue from the OCR result panel without capturing the area again. The Translation page explains source editing, language choices, translation services, and copying the result.
Choose Recognize QR Code to decode a QR code in a standard screen selection. Review and copy its content, or open it directly when it is a supported web or email link.

Frequently asked questions
Can I capture a window instead of drawing a region?
Yes. Frset detects candidate windows during capture so you can select a window, or drag your own region when you need a smaller area.
Can I annotate a scrolling screenshot?
Yes. Open the accumulated long image for annotation, then copy, save, or pin the result. The quality of scrolling capture depends on the target app and the content being captured.
Can I copy text from a screenshot?
Choose Extract Text to recognize the visible words, edit the result, and copy the part you need. You can also run OCR on an image already saved in your clipboard history.
Does text recognition require an AI API key?
No. OCR runs locally using Apple's text recognition. If you continue into translation, the selected translation service determines its setup and data flow; see Translation and the Privacy Policy.
Which macOS permissions are needed?
Capturing the screen requires the relevant macOS Screen Recording permission. Frset guides you to the system setting when access is needed. It requires macOS 13 or later.
What if the recognized text needs a correction?
Edit it in the result panel before copying or translating it. Small text, low contrast, and complex layouts can affect recognition and paragraph grouping; recognition language support also depends on macOS.
