Raycast Alternatives for Mac

Replace the jobs you need: a launcher, clipboard history, integrations, or everyday utilities.

Raycast covers several jobs, so there is no useful single answer to “what replaces it?” A clipboard app can replace a history routine while leaving app launching and service integrations unresolved. Start with the commands you actually use.

Raycast's free plan already includes clipboard history and core tools. If you are considering a paid-plan change, first separate the paid capabilities you need from the free ones you can continue using.

Alternatives by role

Alfred for launcher and custom workflow needs

Alfred is the closest candidate in this group when app launching and search are the main jobs. Powerpack adds workflows, clipboard history, and snippets. Its workflow system is relevant for automation, but an installed Raycast extension will not automatically transfer into it.

Frset for saved content and capture

Frset fits a routine built around local copies, organized snippets, editable notes, screenshots, and text tools. It can be a replacement for that portion of Raycast, or a companion to the launcher. Its built-in utilities and custom AI prompts are not a substitute for Raycast's full extension system.

Maccy or Paste for clipboard-specific needs

Maccy is a focused open-source option for retrieval. Paste is more relevant when a saved clipboard collection should follow you across Apple devices. These candidates intentionally narrow the replacement to copied content.

Vorssaint for a configurable Mac toolbox

Vorssaint is a free, open-source utility app with installable modules, including clipboard, window, screenshot, and system tools. Evaluate the particular modules you need. Modular system utilities and a service-extension ecosystem are different kinds of breadth.

A role-based comparison

What you need from Raycast Candidate Replacement boundary
Launching, search, and custom automation Alfred with Powerpack where needed Rebuild or find equivalents for essential workflows
Organized local history plus capture and text tools Frset Does not reproduce the launcher or extension ecosystem
Basic clipboard retrieval Maccy No general launcher replacement is implied
Clipboard collection across Apple devices Paste Solves history and organization rather than launcher commands
Configurable system utilities Vorssaint Check each installed module and permission

Keep Raycast if it already covers your required jobs with less setup. A replacement can require multiple apps, new shortcuts, and repeated permission configuration.

Where Frset is a sensible fit

Frset supports tags, titles, aliases, notes, and content-type filters. That is useful when you remember a project label or a name you gave an item. Search covers stored content fields; it is not unlimited full-text indexing for any document size.

Its screenshot path includes capture, annotation, screen selection OCR, long capture, and floating references. Screenshot search indexes eligible Frset screenshots and is off by default. Raycast can also search copied images by recognized text with Text Recognition enabled, and separately offers screenshot OCR search in configured folders. Compare the image sources covered and the capture-to-use sequence before switching.

Selected Frset text items can become one newline-separated payload. Built-in tools can format JSON, convert timestamps, encode text, or use configured AI prompts. Sequential paste queues and general automation are outside this promise.

Plans and data paths

Frset Free gives access to 24 hours of ordinary history, with a separate seven-day cleanup rule. Pro follows retention settings and an optional storage limit; its purchase options include monthly, annual, and Lifetime. Review the current plans rather than assuming a launcher subscription is required for basic history.

Raycast Cloud Sync excludes Clipboard History. Frset history is local here, while network translation and remote AI receive submitted content. Do not choose a provider-based tool on the assumption that a local clipboard means every action stays offline.

Transition one role at a time

List your most-used Raycast commands, extensions, snippets, and shortcuts. Keep the original data and configuration while testing one replacement role. No direct migration into Frset is assumed. Configure exclusions and test real paste destinations; Frset automatic paste may not be available immediately after a fresh install. When available, enable it, grant Accessibility permission, and check your destination apps.
