Alternative
Tinycast Alternatives for Mac
Choose a replacement by the role you want to keep: launcher, extensions, clipboard history, screenshots, or built-in Mac search.
Looking for a Tinycast alternative? First decide which part you want to replace. Tinycast combines a Mac launcher with clipboard history, snippets, Quicklinks, file search, window tools, and optional extensions. A different launcher may suit you better; if you mainly use its clipboard, another focused app may be enough.
Tinycast alternatives by need
| Main need | Consider | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Broad launcher and extension catalog | Raycast | Larger extension ecosystem and integrated commands; some Pro features require a subscription |
| Custom workflows and keyword searches | Alfred | Strong app, file, and web search; workflows, snippets, and clipboard history require Powerpack |
| Built-in Mac app and file search | Spotlight | No extra launcher to install; fewer customization and extension options than a dedicated launcher |
| Clipboard, screenshots, and content tools | Frset | Menu bar workspace for saved content and screenshot work; not a general launcher replacement |
| Lightweight clipboard history only | Maccy | Focused history retrieval without a full launcher or workflow system |
Raycast for extensions and integrations
Raycast is worth considering if Tinycast's launcher is the main reason you installed it and you want a larger catalog of community extensions and service integrations. It also includes clipboard history, snippets, Quicklinks, window management, and commands. Compare the current free and paid limits before switching, and check whether the extensions you need are available.
Alfred for workflows and web search
Alfred offers app and file search, system actions, default and custom web searches, and a mature workflow system. Basic launching and search are free; clipboard history, snippets, and workflows require Powerpack. Existing Tinycast commands or settings do not automatically become Alfred workflows, so list the actions and shortcuts you depend on before migrating.
Spotlight for a simpler built-in option
Spotlight may be enough if you mainly open apps, find files, and search the web from macOS. It is already part of the system and avoids installing another launcher. It does not aim to reproduce Tinycast's configurable commands, extensions, clipboard history, or window-management tools.
Frset when clipboard and screenshots matter most
Frset is relevant if your use of Tinycast centers on clipboard history, screenshot capture, OCR, translation, and text utilities rather than launching apps or searching files. It can capture and annotate screenshots, extract or translate screen text, organize copied items with tags and notes, and run common content tools from the menu bar. It does not replace Tinycast's launcher, shell commands, Raycast extensions, or general file search. Frset Free limits ordinary history access to the latest 24 hours; see current plans for Pro details.
Before you switch
Write down the Tinycast features you actually use: launcher search, file search, snippets, Quicklinks, clipboard retention, commands, or window layouts. Test replacements against those tasks and keep a Tinycast backup until the new setup works. Tinycast's Raycast importer is for Raycast exports; do not assume another app can directly import Tinycast history or settings.
For a feature-by-feature decision, read Frset vs Tinycast. If you want a content-focused Mac workspace rather than a full launcher, explore Frset clipboard history and screenshots and OCR.
